Sizing Information
For your reference, these gloves fit consistently with the major American designed brands we carry such as Tour Master, Joe Rocket, FirstGear, etc, which are “normal” in fit and size. And they are a bit more roomy than some European brands such as Alpinestars and REV’IT! that typically run about a half size smaller than the American “normal” fit. Hopefully you have some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.
Our Two Cents
The Icon Hooligan CE Gloves are an update on their MX-Inspired minimalist styled street gloves with a CE rating. The Hooligan glove line dates back to around 2013, I’ll point out the updates from the prior version here.
This glove is a short cuff mesh summer style glove. The palm uses Icon’s Ax Laredo™ synthetic leather which they say is more abrasion resistant than real leather. There is an extra layer of the Ax Laredo™ over the outer side of the palm that has a slightly beefier pad at the palm and unlike the prior version this does not continue over the pinky and instead stops mid-hand. A key update to this version of the Hooligan CE gloves is the addition of touchscreen compatible material at the index fingers and thumbs. The earlier versions seemed to work ok on most devices, but this new addition makes interaction a breeze.
The cuff of this glove is secured with a simple hook and loop closure that has been updated with a slightly higher profile and texture at the lip so it is a little easier to manipulate than the earlier versions. The back of the hand is a full mesh material with a thin rubber-like overlay over the foam padded knuckles.
Overall this is a great lightweight glove option for someone looking for a minimalistic mesh glove. It should perform well in hot to warm weather for just about any riding style where armor isn’t required or desired. The little updates and new CE rating make this glove a great deal! :: Mike, 08/30/2022
