REV'IT! Shade H2O Jacket
The Shade H2O is designed after one of our most successful summer jackets (the Eclipse) and is for those who are looking for an entry-level, waterproof, back-to-basics riding garment. This jacket has a city fit and is not too tight and not too loose. It is very easy to combine with jeans and motorcycle footwear. To keep riders safe, it’s up-to-spec in terms of protection, both in impact tests, as well as abrasion resistance. Pre-shaped SEESMART CE-level 1 body armor can be found at the shoulders and elbows, and it’s possible to upgrade the safety component with the available CE-level 2 SEESOFT or SEESOFT Air back protector insert. Furthermore, the Shade H2O jacket has the incorporated hydratex|Mesh G-liner waterproofing construction to keep the rain out, and a full-sleeve detachable thermal liner for colder temperatures.

Sizing Information
We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fit well. I also verified some chest and belly measurements and found those to also be in line with what you’d normally find in American men’s clothing. So, we recommend you buy the size you normally wear in US men’s clothing.
You can also choose a size based on your chest and belly measurements. We’ve put together the chart below so you can choose a size that is big enough for both your chest and belly. Our size estimates differ from REVIT’s published size chart for this jacket, so for clarification, the chart includes both sets of chest size estimates. We recommend you use our estimates.
This particular style doesn’t taper a whole lot from chest to waist… only about 2”, so most people won’t have to worry about whether the belly area will work for them, but for those who do have an ample belly, we list the max size for each alpha size so you can make sure the size you choose will work. This jacket has very effective size adjusters for the mid-torso area, so even if your waist/belly is much smaller than these max figures, you’ll be able to get a good fit.

Our Two Cents
The REV’IT! Shade H2O jacket is a new entry level waterproof jacket designed with the urban commuter in mind.
The Shade H2O comes with Seesmart CE level 1 armor in the shoulders and elbows and is prepared for a CE level 2 back protector if you choose to upgrade (see options below). The main zipper of the jacket has an outer and inner zipper that is offset to keep rainwater from coming straight through the front. The Shade H2O is basically a waterproof version of the top selling Eclipse jacket.
The jacket also has a full sleeve thermal liner that is removable. At the back of the interior of the liner, near the waist, there is a small “hidden pocket” that houses the garment tag and care instructions. This pocket is just about the perfect size for a license or credit card as well. I’m not sure if that was REV’IT’s intent with the pocket, and since it doesn’t seal I’d definitely beware before storing anything there, but if you are headed to a sketchy area and want to hide something where no one will look it gives you a good option.
There are two hand warmer style pockets on the front that are outlined in reflective material and use waterproof zippers. There are also two pockets on the interior of the jacket that are accessible through slits in the thermal liner. There is a single reflective at the neck on the rear of the jacket as well so you get some visibility. The collar is soft and comfortable as is the thermal liner. When the thermal liner is removed, the interior of the jacket is a smooth waterproof lining material that easily glides over whatever garments you are wearing underneath without hanging. The waist of the jacket has a short connection zipper with the mating portion attached so you can pair this jacket with any REV’IT! pant that has the short zipper out of the box, or you can pair it with just about anything with a little help from a seamstress or tailor. There are also two loops that allow you to secure the jacket to a belt. This will hold the tail down at speed and also keep it from riding up if you happen to slide on your backside.
The cuffs of this jacket offer some adjustability in the form of hook and loop strap closures. Further up the arm at the bicep, there is a snap adjuster that allows you to tighten the sleeve down if needed. Finally, at the waist, there are two drawcords, one on each side, that allow you to snug the jacket down tight if desired.
This Shade H2O jacket is bare bones, but don’t let that fool you because with REV’IT! gear you’re always getting a quality product. This jacket will work for most riders in warm to cold temperatures in wet or dry conditions. At launch, there are 4 colorways, the ever popular Black, Navy Blue, and Dark Green all match the colors available on the Eclipse mesh jacket, and then there is a Camo Light Grey that is kind of sharp looking in person. It isn’t like most camo colorways that you see now and it will definitely stand out in a crowd, or disappear in the wilderness I suppose. :: Mike, 01/04/2022
