REV'IT! Montana H2O Jacket

The Montana H2O motorcycle jacket is the ideal garment for urban mobility and will help you challenge whatever life throws at you on your daily commute. See it on the streets and you’d never guess that the Montana H2O is road-ready motorcycle jacket.

Next to the longer archetypical parkas we already had in our range of commuter motorcycle jackets, we thought it was time to add a shorter one as well. The Montana H2O is made of a 2L PWR|Shell material and has an incorporated hydratex|Mesh G-liner construction to keep the water out.

To keep you safe, it comes complete with comfortable, lightweight, and ventilated SEESMART CE-level 1 armor at the elbows and shoulders. There’s also an insert to accommodate the additional SEESOFT CE-level 2 back protector in case you’re looking for an upgrade. You’ll find enough waterproof pockets to store everything you need on your daily commute when the weather doesn’t want to cooperate.

Adjustment cords and tabs make it possible to tailor the fit to your body, and you can use the jeans loops or the short connection zipper to attach it to your pair of riding motorcycle pants or jeans. Reflection on the back and at the detachable hood is added for extra visibility. With the detachable thermal liner inside, you wrap yourself in pure luxury and comfort on those colder spring, autumn, and winter morning rides. Without the liner, this motorcycle jacket is perfectly suited to keep you safe and comfortable from spring to early autumn.

Look great and stay dry with the Montana H2O motorcycle jacket.

Sizing Information

We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fits well enough and it looks sharp, but there is very minimal room left. Many brands from Europe exhibit a fit like this, such as Alpinestars. If you look at REV’IT!’s published size chart (below), you’ll see their estimate of chest size is at least a full size smaller than what you’d find in equivalent US designed clothing.

We measured each jacket and tried them on and we’ve concluded that the fit is just about one-half size smaller than what you would find in ordinary US men’s clothing. The amount the jackets are undersized is not as severe as REV’IT!’s size chart would have you believe. For most people, this means you’ll be able to buy the size you normally wear if you want a snug, European style fit. If you want a looser American fit, or if you are between sizes, choose one size larger.

Below is the REV’IT!-published chest size for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is a touring/street style so there is only a moderate taper from chest to waist, and with a style like this you can effectively tailor the fit of the waist with the drawcord waist adjusters, which makes the jacket look great and fit great, so don’t worry if your waist/belly is smaller than the max. We only list this for those that have a belly so they can know what minimum size they’d have to choose to fit the belly.

Note: Add about 1” to your chest and belly measurements if you plan to add a back protector.

Our Two Cents

The REV’IT! Montana H2O Jacket is very similar to the REV’IT! Toronto H2O Jacket that also debued this fall. The Montana is a waist length option while the Toronto is a 3/4 length.

The REV’IT! Montana H2O Jacket is fully waterproof thanks to a hydratex® G-liner. This liner is fixed in the jacket and there are no vents so this jacket is going to be ideal for cool to cold, wet or dry weather. Inside the jacket is a removable and thermal liner that is very soft. The thermal liner is color coordinated to the outer shell color as well, Dark Green has a matching Dark Green thermal liner while both the Black and the Anthracite have a Dark Grey liner.

The hood system on the Montana H2O is fully adjustable with a drawcord at the back of the head and two adjusters near the collar. The hood can be easily removed with a zipper and the hood is packable in just about any of the pockets on the jacket. There are hook and loop adjusters at the cuffs and drawcords on the interior of the jacket at the waist that pull to adjust then press the top of the mechanism to release. Over the main zip there is a snapped storm flap with gaps behind the snaps. These gaps allow you to easily snap the closure with one hand while wearing gloves and also can serve dual purpose of holding the jacket closed while allowing some air to flow through if you lower the zipper a bit.

For storage the Montana H2O has two zippered water resistant pockets at the belly (I say resistant because the zippers aren’t the kind normally seen on a waterproof pocket but they are taped and on the reverse side of the opening so they should keep water out very well), one waterproof zippered pocket at the left cuff, one waterproof zippered pocket at the chest that is set up like the belly pockets, one napoleon pocket on the right side behind the main zipper storm flap, and one pocket on each side of the inside of the jacket below the thermal liner. The thermal liner also has one pocket. The jacket has a short connection zipper and belt loop hoops for pairing with your favorite riding pants or jeans, and it also works with the REV’IT! Safeway belts in the related products below.

The outer shell of the jacket is a 2L high-performance polyamide PWR with a smooth finish pattern. The SeeSmart™ CE-level 1 armor at the elbows and shoulders if thin and flexible but still provides impact protection. The back pocket is prepared for the SeeSoft™ CE-level 2 back protector insert, see related products below. The back of the hood has a laminated reflective material and the stripe continues down the middle of the back as well.

The REV’IT! Montana H2O jacket is a good option for the urban or touring rider that is looking for a waist length waterproof jacket that has decent storage and refined styling. This jacket will work well for riding conditions ranging from cold to warm in wet environments. :: Mike, 11/09/2022
