REV'IT! Ignition 4 H2O Jacket :: MotorcycleGear.com

REV'IT! Ignition 4 H2O Jacket

Engineering you’d expect from a fourth-generation motorcycle jacket, the Ignition 4 H20 takes multi-season performance to its peak. Urban-inspired, premium-grade materials deliver signature REV’IT! sporty looks with three-season comfort, while premium panel construction blends high-quality cowhide and tightly woven PWR|Shell mesh – natural materials and textiles combined for maximum abrasion resistance and airflow.

Versatile for varying weather For unpredictable conditions ahead, layers make this jacket more versatile. Just zip in your choice of packable liner – thermal or hydratex or both – and you’re ready for the elements. The waterproof liner’s ingenious micropores are 2 nanometers wide (that’s 0.000002 millimeters) – to resist wind and rain, less is most certainly more.

Arrive cool and calm When the sun blazes down, there’s ample ventilation – including zippers on forearms –, and the blend of materials offers both freedom of movement and CE-rated protection to keep you in control. Top it all with our award-winning SEEFLEX CE-Level 2 armor on the shoulders and elbows to make every trip cooler, calmer, and just that little bit safer.

Sizing Information

We bought samples of these jackets and measured them and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. For European sized jackets, you can generally just subtract 10 points from the size to get the corresponding US chest size. But REV’IT’s published size chart indicates that their jackets are sized a bit smaller… especially in the larger size ranges. So using the chart, we put a 54 on Huey and a 58 on Dewey (typically they’d wear a 42 and 46 US size), and the sizes we chose worked out very well. Both look and fit great (click the “View Larger Images” link above to see).

So, after measuring and trying on, we conclude that REV’IT’s size chart is accurate. Choose a size based upon your chest measurement. For those in the smaller size ranges, the size chosen will be the same size as in other well known European sized jackets such as Alpinestars, but in the larger size ranges, you’ll be choosing one size larger than you might normally choose.

Below is the REV’IT-published US chest sizes for each jacket size along with our estimate of max waist/belly. We include a waist/belly measurement because if you have some belly, then you will want to make sure you are buying a jacket that is large enough to accommodate you. Those with a waist that is trimmer than the chart indicates for their chest size can use the adjustment straps to customize the fit with no problem. A jacket like this looks great with the waist adjusters in a bit.

Jacket Size Max Chest Our Estimate

Our Two Cents

The Ignition 4 jacket from REV’IT! is in its fourth generation and is considered an urban inspired, premium grade, multi seasons performance jacket.  What that basically means is that you are getting a jacket that has stood the test of time and has had time to evolve and improve over the different generations, and a jacket that is versatile, and depending on where you live that can serve you for three or four seasons.

The overall look and feel of the Ignition 4 Jacket is that of an urban jacket that mixes a classic leather jacket look with the look of a full air mesh jacket. This is accomplished by mixing artificial nubuck, cowhide leather, neoprene, polyester stretch as well as PWR Shell mesh. This combination results in a CE Level AA abrasion resistance rating while still allowing the jacket to flow plenty of air allowing for warm to hot weather riding. The ventilation on this jacket is impressive as you do have ventilation panels at the lower back, lower front, upper arms, upper front and upper back. If the weather were to change the Ignition 4 has your back as it can become waterproof by installing back in the included hydratex lite liner, and if the weather turns cold you can attach back in the included thermal line. You basically are getting 4 jackets in 1 (Standalone mesh jacket, jacket with thermal liner, jacket with waterproof liner or jacket with both waterproof and thermal liner). The ignition 4 jacket features what is considered a slim fit.

From a protection standpoint the Ignition 4 jacket is prepared for a REV’IT! back protector and divided chest protector and comes with installed/included SEEFLEX CE-level 2 elbow and shoulder protectors. The ignition 4 jacket also features safety seems to keep it all together if you were to go down, as well as reflection with reflective fabric at the back, the upper arm and with a reflective logo on the back.

Looking at comfort and convenience, the Ignition 4 jacket comes with adjustability at the waist with an adjustment strap, a comfort collar, comfort cuffs, an external hang loop as well as stretch at the armholes, elbow and inside the arms. Some convenience features include both a short and long connection zipper, jeans loop hooks, four internal pockets, an inner Napoleon pork as well as two slit pockets on the front.

Overall the Ignition 4 jacket is clearly a jacket that has stood the test of time and is clearly a representation of growth, learning and improvement over the generations. Personally I like the look as it can and does give off cruiser vibes, but in a more cleaned up, and modern way vs a traditional leather jacket. As a whole package, I am quite fond of this jacket, it provides solid looks, protection and features. If the Ignition 4 jacket fits your style, I’d say that you can’t go wrong. Also check out its matching, Ignition 4 pants to complete the set. :: Damir 5/9/24
