Sizing Information
We tried a size Medium and an XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. Those are sizes they usually wear in an “American” cut jacket. This jacket from REV’IT! fit very well. I also verified some chest and belly measurements and found those to also be in line with what you’d normally find in American men’s clothing. So, we recommend you buy the size you normally wear in US men’s clothing.
You can also choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. We’ve put together the chart below so you can choose a size that is big enough for both your chest and belly. Our size estimates differ from REVIT’s published size chart for this jacket, so for clarification, the chart includes both sets of chest size estimates. We recommend you use our estimates.
This particular style doesn’t taper a whole lot from chest to waist… only about 2”, so most people won’t have to worry about whether the belly area will work for them, but for those who do have an ample belly, we list the max size for each alpha size so you can make sure the size you choose will work.

Our Two Cents
The REVIT Component jacket offers a tough all-weather shell for adventure and off-road riding. This jacket includes armor for the shoulders and elbows
The Component jacket is aimed at adventure and off-road riders. In comparing this product to other brands and styles, think Klim. The shell material is a really tough feeling rip-stop nylon. The shell material is made waterproof with a bonded material, so it is a single layer (rather than having a separate waterproof liner and/or interior mesh lining). The inside seams are all taped so it should perform well to keep you dry either on or off the bike. The jacket has provisions for venting too. There are two dedicated zip vents on the biceps, and there are two larger vents on the front that double as pockets. And in back are two dedicated exhaust vents. The front facing vents have plackets that face forward so they’ll better catch the wind. All the zip vents are “direct flow” meaning that, when open, there is a direct path through to your body, so this jacket should work well even in very warm temps (when you are moving of course). With your own layering underneath, you can cover colder weather as well.
SEESMART™ CE-level 1 armor is included for the shoulders and elbows. This style armor is light, thin, and flexible and works well in a jacket style like this. Back protection is not included and isn’t an option. In this riding segment, back protection is either not worn or is a “worn on the body” type, which may or may not include a neck brace.
Recently I reviewed the Territory jacket from REVIT which is a non-waterproof and vented jacket with similar purpose as this one. The Territory is very light and flexible where this Component is much more sturdy feeling. If you’ll be riding mostly in hot and dry conditions, take the link below to view the Territory. :: Paul, 02-24-21
REVIT says: The Component Jacket is the peak of versatility, lightness and water-resistance in the REV’IT! dirt lineup. Waterproof and ready for every adventure, the Component Jacket uses PWR|shell stretch 3L material and Hydratex for its main construction. Impact areas are strengthened further with 750D Cordura ripstop overlays. Seesmart CE impact protection is fitted into armor pockets at the elbows and shoulders, and the jacket is also tailored to fit comfortably with base layers and impact armor for riders using freestanding protective gear. Zippered vents at the upper and lower arms compliment the zippered pockets which double as exhaust ports when opened. The removable hood stores into the Component Jacket’s rear pocket and provides clearance for using a neck brace.
