Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. My advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

If you look at Icon’s chest size estimates for each jacket, you might be choosing a size larger than you normally wear (example a person with a 46 chest typically is an XL, but using Icon’s chart you’d buy an XXL). I’m not sure why Icon has always understated the size of their otherwise normally fitting jackets. To help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements, I’ve put together the table below. If you use our estimates of max chest, you’ll probably be choosing the size you normally wear.

Contrary to Icon’s marketing info which says this jacket has an “Icon Sport Fit”, which implies a snug torso and a large taper from chest to waist, I find this jacket to be pretty “relaxed” and therefore belly size won’t be a problem for most. But if you have a bit of a belly, you’ll want to get a measurement and make sure to choose a jacket large enough to work.

Size Icon’s Chest Est Our Max Chest Our Max Belly
Small 36-38 38-40 38
Medium 38-40 40-42 40
Large 40-42 42-44 42
XL 42-44 44-46 44
XXL 46-48 46-48 46
XXXL 48-50 48-50 48
XXXXL 52-54 52-54 50

Our Two Cents

The Icon MH 1000 is a stylish textile and leather riding jacket will full armor and a “modern retro” look.

I made up the phrase “modern retro” because this jacket does both pretty well. The best parts about the styling of this jacket don’t even show well in the front factory picture. Down the sides of each arm is a strip of quilted black leather which matches the leather collar and the leather trim around the pockets. The textile material is a crisp/sharp fabric with a nice feel and shine and is the type that doesn’t easily wrinkle (like ordinary textiles. The sharp look of the fabric is the “modern” look and the leather trim and quilted leather strips down the sides is the “retro”part.

The rest of the jacket is classic Icon… a full set of D3O included (so there is nothing else to buy) along with a removable quilted vest type liner to give you some insulation in cooler weather. For warmer weather, the jacket has “two way” zips on the sleeves you can use to shoot some air up the sleeves. And what look like zippered chest pockets are actually zippered vents, so those will allow air in too. With the venting and also the thermal vest, this jacket should cover most time of the year.

The two zippered pockets down below are actually pockets, so you’ll have some where to store your stuff. There are also a couple pockets inside.

I really like the fresh styling of this jacket, and the cut is easy to wear, so you’ll be comfortable wearing it on or off the bike. :: Paul, 10-08-18

Icon says: For the rider with classic tastes, the MH1000 jacket is constructed of a durable textile and leather chassis, making it lightweight while still maintaining ruggedness. YKK® tactical zippers, SatinCore™ liners, adjustable waist straps, and vented cuffs are premium details for motorcycle functionality. Combine this with a full D3O® impact protector package (elbow, shoulder, back) and you’ve got a good-looking piece, on or off your bike.
