Sizing Information
We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 56) and they both look great. The overall fit is consistent with other European sized jacket we sell such as Alpinestars and REVIT.
This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. To choose a size in this jacket, I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.
The overall cut of this particular style jacket is sporty but not too restrictive and there isn’t a great deal of taper from chest to belly like with more race cut jackets. But it isn’t a loose fit jacket either. If you find yourself between sizes in the chart, I’d suggest choosing the larger.
Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart.

Our Two Cents
The Dainese Edge Tex jacket is a simple textile sport style. The jacket includes armor for the shoulders and elbows and a back protector is optional.
The shell of this model is solid textile material. There is not a waterproof component or thermal component, so I’d suggest this jacket for “fair weather” riding. It does have a couple of zippered vents on the sides of the torso you can open to flow some air into the jacket, so it will probably be comfortable for warm temps in the spring and fall. It might get a little toasty in hot summer months though. For cooler weather, the shell will block most of the wind and you could layer under it with something you may already have on your closet.
The armor included in the shoulders and elbows very robust but comfortable. It’s a hard plastic and foam type typically found in race suits and jackets. The elbow armor extends all the way down the forearm to give great coverage. For optional back armor, this jacket is set up with a fabric pocket built into the inside liner. The back armor pocket takes either of the two back pads listed below. For this jacket, I’d recommend the Manis back protector since it is most similar in construction to the elbow/shoulder armor. You can also add chest armor. Take the link below for the Double Chest 2pc Protector.
This jacket does have an all-around zipper for connection to Dainese pants, so you could make this jacket into a basic 2pc street riders outfit by pairing it with Dainese pants. One advantage of a simple style like this is how light and easy it is to wear. I think it would be great for everyday street riding. And of course the styling points to “street sport”. :: Paul, 06-25-19
