Sizing Information
We checked the sizing of this style with our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. They are wearing size Medium and XL jackets respectively. These are their “usual” sizes and they fit just fine. We also checked the chest and belly of the other sizes and find them to fit OK too. Therefore, we recommend you choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.
Overall, I find this model to run roomy as compared to some past Cortech jacket designs. This one fits much like a typical Tour Master jacket (Cortech’s sister brand). Those with an average to stout build will find a comfortable fit, but those with a thin build and/or those who like a snug fit will probably find the torso to fit loose.
If you want to make a size selection with your chest and belly measurements, use the chart below which lists max chest and max belly sizes for each jacket size. The measurements in the chart are a combination of the manufacturer’s size chart and also the measurements we take on the product samples. After you measure, you can choose a jacket size using the chart that will accommodate both your chest and belly.
Tall sizes are available in this jacket too. The sleeve and torso lenth in the tall size selections will be about 1.5” to 2” longer than with the standard size selections, so if you commonly need tall sizes in men’s clothing, you’re in luck!

Our Two Cents
The Cortech Hyper-Tec Jacket is another new style for 2020. This is a sharp textile design with a distinctly sporty design. This jacket comes with a set of CE 2 armor and a foam back pad (upgrade available). Both a waterproof and insulated removable liners are included also.
Just a few days ago I looked at Cortech’s new Aero-Tec Jacket. Both it and this new Hyper-Tech jacket are part of their new “Speedway” collection. I see a lot of similarities in the two styles in terms of fit and basic materials, but this Hyper-Tec just has “more” of almost everything… style, pockets, liners, and so on, so let’s get into it.
The shell of this jacket is a solid textile type with zippered vents to make it more breathable in warmer temps. There are a couple of smaller zip vents on the chest, one under each arm and two in the back as well. While not huge, they should move some air and take you into warmer days easily (but not really hot days I’m afraid). And for wet weather, you get a removable full sleeve waterproof liner. It zips inside the jacket to block rain from coming through to your street clothes. The WP liner can also provide a good windbreak if you want to ride in colder temps. The jacket also comes with a removable vest-type thermal liner to add some insulation to the package in colder weather. The zipper setup is such that you can zip the vest liner into the jacket without the rain liner, or you can zip it inside the rain liner and wear both the WP layer and the insulated liner for the most warmth.
The Hyper-Tec is fitted with armor in the shoulders and elbows and has a pocket for the addition of a back protector. The shoulder and elbow armor is a rubberized type by SAFE TECH, CE2 rated type. If you are interested in details, Google “SafeTech 432002Y” and have a look. The armor is sturdy, but just “standard fare”. The back protector that comes with the jacket is just a simple slab of thin foam, which may satisfy some, but I’d suggest the upgrade by SAFE TECH listed below. It is an inexpensive way to enhance the overall protection package. The Hyper-Tec has a couple of additional protective features too. The shoulders are fitted with hard plastic protection units on the shoulders and also both the shoulders and elbows get an extra layer of heavier textile material to beef up the slide resistance in those most crash-prone areas. Both the overlays and the external armor add some sport style too. Lastly, you can see a couple of panels of built-in raised padding in the stomach area. They are styled to look like your four pack abs in case you don’t already have those.
The overall fit is not nearly as close-fit and tapered as you find in many European brand jackets and so the Hyper-Tec and should be comfortable for average to sturdy builds. Tall slender build riders may find the torso and sleeve length to be shorter than some other brands, but talls are available, so if you tend to need a tall (or always need a tall), that would be your best bet. Being a more sporty style, there are some extra fit features here; the arms have straps and buckles for both the bicep and forearm, and then there are Velcro straps at the waistline to take in the fit for those who are thinner than the max fit size. The arm adjusters help hold the internal armor in position and also keep any extra textile material snugged down so it does catch high winds.
Notice all the pockets… there are more here than in basic jacket styles. I see four on the outside and one large “rabbit” pouch. The rabbit pouch is accessed through one of the two rear zips that also serve as zippered vents. I also see quite a bit of reflective material which is a nice thing to have for nighttime visibility. The collar and sleeves are nicely trimmed in softer material. This jacket comes in at about $180 retail which is about fifty more than the basic Aero-Tech, but there are a lot of features here for the extra bucks, which will appeal to sport riders. Overall, it’s a nice jacket for the money. :: Paul, 07-23-20
