The Neo waterproof Hoodie from Alpinestars is a casual styled hoodie designed for urban riding and commuting. Alpinestars says that is is designed to deliver the optimum blend of comfort, waterproof and windproof performance. Overall construction is polyester with a bit of elastane for the outer shell and the jacket also includes a mesh inner liner as well as a removable thermal liner. I would say that this is a fall-winter type of jacket that may work on some colder spring days.

For protection the Neo waterproof hoodie achieved a CE Level A abrasion resistance rating and comes included with CE Level 1 Nucleon Flex Plus shoulder and elbow protectors, as well as pockets for an optional back protector and a divided chest protector.

Looking at comfort and convenience, there are two zippered hand pockets located where you would expect them to be on a hoodie, a zippered chest pocket, a waterproof inner pocket, as well as two regular inner pockets. The cuffs feature hook and loop closures for adjustability, there is a draw sting for the hood, and the hood can either be removed all together or pinned down to the back via a button to keep it from flapping around. There is also a drawstring at the waist for fit adjustability as well as jeans loop hooks to help you attach your jacket to your favorite pants. Speaking of fit this hoodie has a pretty relaxed straight fit as there is no taper from chest to belly. The Neo Waterproof Hoodie also features side ventilation for enhanced airflow and breathability when the weather heats up a bit. This hoodie is also compatible with the Tech-Air® 5 or Tech-Air® 3 Airbag Systems.

Overall this is a cool looking and casual riding jacket/hoodie that will do well with keeping you dry and warm and if it fits your style is worth looking at. Personally I would upgrade the protection to level 2 or at the minimum add the back and chest protectors. :: Damir 6/8/24
