Our Two Cents

The Bogota Pro Drystar Jacket from Alpinestars is an adventure based jacket that has multiple layers to keep you warm, cool and dry, all in one jacket. Overall construction of the jacket is a combination of a lightweight 600D main shell, with reinforced 2-L 450D hard outer shell construction for enhanced long-life durability and light weight, with 600D woven reinforcements for additional durability in key areas. The jacket is DWR treated for all weather performance and includes both a technical Drystar® liner to provide superior breathability and exceptional wet weather performance (the liner can be worn both on the inside and outside of the jacket) as well as a removable thermal liner to keep you warm. This combination of materials and the included impact protection resulted in a CE Level AA rating. Speaking of impact protection, included are Level 2 CE Nucleon Flex Pro shoulder and elbow armor, as well as pockets for both a back protector and a divided chest protector. Overall the Bogota Pro provides really good protection. The Bogota jacket is also Tech-Air® Ready and can accommodate the Tech-Air® 5 or Tech-Air® 3 Airbag Systems.

Looking at comfort and convenience, this jacket offers ample adjustability, with adjustment tabs at the biceps, adjustment straps at the forearms and belly, as well as adjustment tabs at the cuffs and a drawstring adjustment at the wait, with all this point of adjustment, you are bound to find a good fit. Moving on to ventilation, with the liners removed and all of the vent panels open, this jacket is free to breathe almost as well as a full mesh jacket. With massive front vents, one on each side of the chest, almost full arm length arm vents as well as one massive back vent, again, the jacket is free to breathe! Looking at convenience, there are two front zippered pockets (really its more like a double pocket as there is a zippered pocket on top and a hood and loop closure pocket on the front of that pocket), two chest pockets an inner waterproof document pocket and two inner pockets on the liner for safe and secure storage of valuables. Lastly, the jacket features extensive stretch inserts around the armpit area for optimum freedom of movement and enhanced fit.

At the time of this review , the Bogota Pro Drystar Jacket from Alpinestars retails at $429.95 and is well worth the money, I would argue that it rivals features of other jackets that cost one to two hundred dollars more. Overall it is quite comfortable, looks great, is multi functional, comes in some really nice color options, and depending on how hot it gets where you live, it could quite possibly be a full year, all season jacket. I recommend checking it out if you are in the market for a new adventure jacket. :: Damir 7/26/24.
