Icon Motorhead 2 Jacket

This new jacket style comes with a slightly altered size chart form Icon. In past years, their chart showed chest measurements for each alpha size at about one size smaller than they actually fit. This year’s size chart more closely matches how the jackets are sized and to industry norms. That means most people can choose the size they normally wear in men’s clothing. You can also use a tape and measure yourself and use the chart below. Hopefully the size you get from the chart will be the same as you normally wear.

This jacket does not taper much at all from chest to belly, so nearly anybody will be OK with the size going by just their chest measurement. Just make sure your belly isn’t bigger than your chest. If so, use the larger measurement of the two to choose a size with the chart.

This Motorhead 2 jacket offers FULL thickness leather for those that want the best abrasion protection possible. Icon leather jackets have always been heavy duty and this one is super heavy as well. And along with the leather shell, you get a full complement of D3O armor…. shoulders, elbows and back. So the whole package is pretty darn rugged.

The overall styling and colors have been toned down in this version. Even the blue, green, red, and white jackets aren’t as flashy as the original, and if you want total stealth, then choose the aptly named Stealth color.

Being a full thickness leather and predominately black, this jacket will work best in cold to warm weather, but not hot weather. The jacket does have a couple chest “vents” that also double as pockets, and there are areas of the shell that will pass air like the perf leather on the lower/side of the body and the stretch fabric in the underarm area, but mostly it’s a solid shell. For the cooler weather, you can use the removable full sleeve liner for a bit of insulation.

A good feature on this jacket you’ll appreciate are the large flex zones behind each shoulder. Those will help with the flexibility of your arms in reaching forward on the bike. As I mentioned above, there are stretch fabric panels in the underarm area to help with flex too. And also to reduce the overall weight of the jacket.

PS: While in the photo studio we ran across a couple interesting little features that may be of interest. The inside breast pocket is oversize and very deep, so I think it could double as a gun pocket, and on the opposite side of the zipper there are two snap-close horizontal pockets which I would assume are meant for clips. I also noticed that the jacket sleeves are “two way” so you can zip down from the top and they function as vents. And finally there is a wire management grommet for headphones just above the zippered pocket inside, which I’ve seem on MANY Icon jackets in the past.
