Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. Both jackets fit, but there wasn’t a lot of room for error in the chest. This style has a bit more of a trim fit than most Icon jackets. We generally advise people to buy the size they normally wear in men’s clothing, and I’d stick with that advice on this style as well IF you like a trim fit and you have an average or thinner frame. If you like more room and/or you have a more stout build, then I’d advise you to go up one size.

Below is the size chart offered by Icon and in the case of this style, I’d say it is just about right. If you measure and use the chart you may well find yourself buying one size larger than usual.

Size Icon’s Chest Est Our Max Belly
Small 36-38 36
Medium 38-40 38
Large 40-42 40
XL 42-44 42
XXL 46-48 46
XXXL 48-50 48

Our Two Cents

The Fallblock CX Flannel Jacket from Icon is a super casual, relaxed and every day passable, motorcycle jacket. Overall construction is cotton nylon flannel with internal 300D polyester reinforcements in the elbows and shoulders with a 85gm polyfil insulation for warmth. Overall this jacket is super comfortable and really doesn’t at all feel rigid or stiff. I would say it is one of the most comfortable Flannel Riding Jackets that I have ever tried on, seriously, If you remove the armor you can wear it as a regular jacket without issue. And honestly even with the armor still installed it really isn’t all that different since the armor utilized in the shoulders and elbows is D3O’s Level 1 Ghost armor and D3O’s Level 1 Viper back protector both of which are known for offering solid protection while remaining super comfortable and flexible. One thing that Icon has been doing a lot of lately is including all of the armor, super cool on their part as many brands have you buy the back protector separately.

Some features to note are the collar, which is an actual flannel jacket collar but it is buttoned down in the front to keep it flapping around. To further continue the authentic look, the front closure is button based on the outside but is backed up by a solid zipper to keep you safe while providing convenience with the zipper being two way. And speaking of zippered convenience or rather comfort, in the underarms, there are two large zippers that open to allow for quite a bit of ventilation. On the front of the jacket you go get two hand warmer pockets, both are zippered and then on the chest you get two additional pockets they however are closed with a flap that is magnetized with two button sized magnets on each side. Also before I forget to mention, all of the zippers are Premium YKK® zippers. On the cuff there are buttons to close the cuffs that are backed by zippers that open up to make getting in and out easier but also to expose a mesh, and if you open the zippers but clasp the buttons you get a nice amount of airflow. One last thing to note, there is a single pocket on the inside, it is a napoleon pocket and it is zippered, about big enough for your average sized smartphone, however it is not waterproof.

Overall an extremely comfortable jacket that fits the 90’s flannel style while offering riding protection. Keep in mind this jacket is not CE rated, though I am not sure if that is because Icon didn’t submit it for certification (remember Icon is primarily USA based and CE is a European standard) or because it wouldn’t pass certification. Looking at overall construction, materials and armor, I would assume that at best it would pass the single A CE test but not the AA. The primary focus of this jacket after all is the look and the comfort with protection coming in third. There are definitely other jackets and overshirts in this price range that will offer more substantial protection, but that will come at the cost of comfort, style and mobility.

Last thing to touch on is fit and size. I normally wear a size XL and this jacket in a XL fits me perfectly from a length and sleeve standpoint. It fits me well overall, meaning that it is what size I should be wearing but with how relaxed the cut is, it definitely fits relaxed on me allowing for plenty of space (my recommendation here is that if you are stuck between sizes based on the size chart that you should most likely size down). :: Damir 12/21/24
