Sizing Information
These jackets are sold in US based “alpha” sizes, so selecting a size is basically pretty easy. The size Medium and XL jackets fit Huey and Dewey, our Fit Check mannequins very nicely! Also, we checked several sizes with a tape. We found the sizing to be comparable to standard men’s clothing sizes. So our primary advice would be to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.
Alpinestars publishes a super-complicated size chart which can be used to pick a size based upon your chest and waist. We’ve condensed their chart down to make it easy to read (see below). You can use this size chart to check your own measurements against the size chart to make sure the size you select will work. Choose a size that is big enough for both your chest and belly.
The max waist of a jacket style like this is only a couple inches smaller than the max chest and the bottom waist band is stretchy, so the style is very forgiving in case you have a bit of a belly.

Our Two Cents
The Moflow Air Tech Hoodie from Alpinestars is engineered to basically follow its name…to flow more air. This hoodie is almost entirely constructed from mesh as it features a full mesh main chassis and is actually see-through in many parts/areas. The primary focus here is airflow, good looks and fitting in the urban/utilitarian aesthetic which I believe the Moflow Air Tech Hoodie achieves very well.
Lets talk protection, a hoodie or jacket like this is going to leave some protection on the table, and will definitely not be as protective as more protection focused jackets, but it definitely isn’t without protective features. Overall the Moflow Air Tech Hoodie achieves a CE Level A abrasion rating, and features Nucleon Flex Plus CE Level 1 rated shoulder and elbow armor that is removable externally via zippers on the armor pockets.
From a practicality standpoint, the Moflow Air Tech Hoodie features no inner lining for a light weight and streamlined construction, it features standard front pockets that are enclosed with zippers for storage, as well as a waterproof internal pocket for keeping items like electronics dry. The hood also features two drawstring adjusters to help reduce wind buffeting while riding, and a button that pins the hood to your back to keep it from flapping around. Last but not least, the Moflow Tech Air hoodie features technical stretch insert panels on the full length of the sides and the entire length of the inner arms to further enhance fit and comfort.
Overall the Moflow Air Tech hoodie offers tons of style and airflow with some protection to boot. If you are ok with sacrificing some protection for the look and feel of a fully mesh built hoodie like this one then the Moflow Air Tech from Alpinestars might be right for you. :: Damir 5/11/24
