Our Two Cents
The Alpinestars Garage Jacket is a CE Level A rated, urban styled jacket that is a modern interpretation of the classic denim jacket. This jacket definitely has a more casual and off bike look while being a CE rated motorcycle garment. The Garage Jacket comes in one color, grey but be aware that this grey color is much closer to a black denim than a grey. Overall look is definitely of a classic denim jacket including all of the button closures, though the main closure is a button that is backed by a zipper, so you don’t have to worry about the jacket opening up at speed.
Overall construction is a stretch cotton denim that has reinforced shoulders and elbows for better abrasion resistance. To further increase protection Nucleon Flex Plus CE Level 1 rated shoulder and elbow armor is included and the jacket features both a rear pocket for a back protector (purchased separately) as well as pockets for a divided chest protector (also purchased separately).
Additional features include chest and hand pockets on the front of the jacket (the long looking pocket that opens from the top on the front is actually two pockets in one, a chest pocket that opens from the top and then there is a hand pocket underneath it that opens from the side, both pockets are enclosed with a button), one internal zippered, waterproof pocket, and one regular hook and loop enclosure mesh pocket on the opposite side. The Garage jacket from Alpinestars is Tech-Air® 3 Ready and includes jeans loop hooks for attaching to your favorite pants.
Overall the Garage jacket from Alpinestars is a super casual and off the bike looking jacket that offers a solid level of protection for urban use with the ability to upgrade and beef up the armor by swaping out to level 2 and adding back and chest protection or by adding the airbag option. Fit wise this jacket is a straight or regular fit where it isn’t overly loose or relaxed but also isn’t a tight and aggressive sport fit. There is a very minimal taper from chest to belly, in a size XL it was barely a half inch so it should fit comfortably.
