REV'IT! Spark Air Jacket

It combines all the great features you’re looking for in a fully ventilated softshell hoody – comfort, proper stretch, handy front pockets – and then wraps it up in a technical package.

Sizing Information
We put a Medium and XL on our two Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. We generally buy test jackets in a Medium for Huey and an XL for Dewey (41” and 45” chest respectively) assuming these jackets would fit “normally”, and were able to get them on the two mannequins, but it was a tight fit (click the “View Larger Images” link above to see).
We measured both the max chest and belly of every size in this jacket and we find them to run consistent with many past styles of REVIT jackets… which is to say consistently smaller than what you find with most alpha sized men’s jackets. I’ve put together a chart for you to choose a jacket based upon your chest size (see below). And for most people, that means you’ll have to buy one size larger jacket than you normally wear in men’s clothing. I’d highly recommend you use a tape and measure yourself and then use the chart to choose the correct size.
Once you determine the correct size for you, the fit of the jacket is easy. The stretch fabric and elasticated waist make this jacket fit a little smaller than most current REV’IT! styles but they do stretch if you want a tight fit, if you are looking for a more relaxed fit you probably want to go up one size. We’ve included a waist/belly measurement so you can make sure you are buying a jacket that is large enough for both your chest and belly. Those with a waist that is trimmer than the chart indicates for their chest size should still be fine as the hem has an elasticated band keeping it tight to the torso.
Jacket Size | Max Chest | Our Estimate of Max Belly/Waist |
---|---|---|
Small | 34-37 | 34 |
Medium | 37-39 | 36 |
Large | 39-41 | 38 |
XL | 41-44 | 41 |
XXL | 44-46 | 43 |
XXXL | 46-48 | 45 |
XXXXL | 48-50 | 47 |
Our Two Cents
The Spark Air jacket from REV’IT! is the matching top to the Spark Air pants, and like the pants is all about being comfortable and flowing a ton of air to keep you cool in the hot summer months. Like the pants, the Spark Air jacket is primarily maid of out 3D air mesh, a knitted fabric that has an open 3-dimensional structure that ensures good ventilation, as well as PWR Shell stretch. This construction allows the Spark Air jacket to flow air with the best of them while still achieving an impressive AA abrasion resistance rating.
Let’s talk about fit and comfort, REV’IT! states that this jacket has a Race Fit, but I disagree as it not anywhere near as tight as my REV’IT! race jackets, in fact I would argue that its more of a casual fit and it definitely looks, feels and wears like a stiffer hoody, not a body hugging race jacket. Speaking of the hoodie, that is clearly the style inspiration here and REV’IT! was mindful to include a button to allow you to fix the hood to the back to keep it from blowing about in the wind too much. A nice touch between the REV’IT! Spark Air Pants and Jackets is that they do features a short connection zipper allowing you to attach the two to each other and to keep your jacket from riding up. In the case that you are wanting to connect to a different pair of pants that don’t have the connection zipper, REV’IT! also included means loop hooks that allows you to attach your pants that way. Lastly for a comfort standpoint you will find an elasticated waist and cuff.
From a protection standpoint, aside from the AA abrasion resistance rating the Spark Air jacket also includes SEESMART CE-level 1 Shoulder Protectors and SEESMART CE-level 1Elbow Protectors, while offering a spot to put in the optional SEESOFT CE-level 2 Insert Back Protector. Additional features include thumb loops as well as laminated reflection on both the chest and the back.
Overall I am really impressed with the protection level in a jacket that is so comfortable and free flowing, especially in the hot summer months. This is a jacket that I own personally and do recommend it for hot weather riding. :: Damir 3/27/24
