Sizing Information
These jackets are sold in US based “alpha” sizes, so selecting a size is basically pretty easy. For most people, you would choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. Alpinestars publishes a super-complicated size chart which can be used to pick a size based upon your chest and waist. We’ve condensed their chart down to make it easy to read (see below). The waist is adjustable with Velcro tabs. Overall this should be a very easy style to fit. I would say the size chart shows what you can tighten the jacket down to using the adjustment straps, and you can probably fit another 2 inches or so even with the liners installed if the adjusters are fully released.
The max waist of a jacket style like this is only a couple inches smaller than the max chest, so the style is very forgiving in case you have a bit of a belly, but don’t be concerned if your belly is smaller than the size listed below because this jacket has some very effective side waist adjustment straps.
Jacket Size | Chest Range | Waist/Belly Range |
---|---|---|
Small | 37.5 to 39 | 37 |
Medium | 40 to 41.5 | 39.5 |
Large | 42 to 43.5 | 41.5 |
XL | 44.5 to 46 | 44 |
XXL | 47 to 49 | 47 |
XXXL | 49 to 51 | 49 |
XXXXL | 51.5 to 53 | 51 |
About sizing when accessory armor is used: I’d recommend you add 1” to your chest and belly measurements if you plan on adding the chest pads and the KR-CELLi back pad, which will be most peoples upgrade choice. If you want to add the KR-2i back pad, add 2”. The Tech-Air airbag system can be used with this jacket and would be used in place of the back pad and chest protectors. If selecting the air bag system, add 2” to your chest and belly measurements before selecting your jacket size.
Our Two Cents
The Alpinestars Crosshill Waterproof Jacket is a mesh jacket with a destination waterproof liner and full sleeve thermal liner inside. This jacket will be ideal for urban and touring riders looking for a waist length jacket for 3-4 season riding.
The Crosshill WP jacket has a removable full sleeve thermal liner and a removable full sleeve destination style waterproof liner. The waterproof liner has reflective material at the shoulders and across the back. The waterproof liner can be worn within the jacket or over the top if you need to throw it on in a rush. You can wear the mesh shell jacket with either liner installed, or no liners at all, for a range of temperatures and weather conditions. The outer shell is mostly mesh with textile overlays in the elbows, shoulders, and down the spine. The elbows and shoulders also have Alpinestars Nucleon Flex plus armor which is CE level 2 and highly breathable and flexible, a great fit for this mesh jacket. There is a back protector pocket and two chest protector pockets for an optional upgrade if you choose (see related products below).
The Crosshill jacket has adjustment straps at the waist, belly, forearm, biceps, and cuffs for multi-point flexibility. The cuffs on the rain liner also have hook and loop adjusters for a good seal on a glove gauntlet if you tuck one into the jacket. There are two hand pockets at the belly, two internal drop pockets at the belly, and one internal waterproof pocket in the Napoleon style but lower down at the belly instead of at the chest. The destination rain liner has two hand pockets as well at the belly. On the outer shell of the jacket, they have also included Molle straps on the front and rear of the jacket for attaching a variety of items if you choose. The reflective on this jacket works very well and is on the arm, back, and the logo on the chest.
The Alpinestars Crosshill Waterproof Jacket is a great option for riders that want a versatile jacket for hot to cold weather riding in just about any conditions. The cut is very forgiving and the adjustments give you plenty of flexibility for layering as well. The styling is subdued and ideal for urban and touring riders that want the protection and capability that Alpinestars builds into their jackets, without the loud colorways and graphics. :: Mike, 08/19/2022
