Sizing Information
We tried on a selection of these boots in our offices and found them to fit a bit on the snug side. We estimate they run small about 1/2 size so you’ll want to choose a boot that is either 1/2 size or one full size greater than you normally choose.
As for width, we think the boots have a “normal” or D width.

Our Two Cents
The Merton boot by Oxford is a lace-up retro style boot with a quick on/off side zipper. The boot includes a waterproof liner to keep the rain out.
I’ve got a boot in the Brown color here for review today. I like the styling of this boot. The finish on the boot is more “retro” looking than the pictures indicate. The edges of the leather have a pre-distressed look to them. The boots feel pretty good on my foot and the fit is easily adjustable with the laces. And the boot has a side zipper like a standard motorcycle boot so you can put them on and take them off quickly and easily without messing with the laces each time. The inside of the boots is well padded.
The overall quality of this boot is about average. The leather used and the sole materials are pretty good for the price. But these aren’t of equal quality to our premium brands of course, like REVIT, Sidi, Alpinestars, TCX, etc. I think these boots will work well for those on a tight budget. If you want to look at almost the same style/function in a higher quality boot, try the TCX Hero Waterproof boot.
The protection features actually feel pretty good. There is good reinforcement in the toe and the heel and there are a couple of discs on either side of the ankle. The sole materials are moderately stiff.
Overall, I’d say “pretty good” for protection and “just OK” for overall build quality and materials. But considering the lower price, I think these are a good value. :: Paul, 08-02-19
