Sizing Information
Choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. Override garments are cut trim to fit well under other clothing, so no need to downsize for that purpose.
Our Two Cents
Klim offers three products in their Override group of mid-layer garments; there are two versions of the Override jacket and one version of pant. The standard Override Jacket is insulated both front and back, the Override Alloy is insulated in front only and the Override Alloy Pant is insulated above the knee, but not in the lower legs. Take the links below to view the other garments in the group.
The Override series of products are made to be “thin and trim” to easily work under your favorite riding outer wear. Thinsulate material is used to add a layer of insulation but keep the bulk and the weight down. I agree with Klim’s description of the Override jacket (see below)... I may buy one myself for every day wear.
The main zipper on the two jackets is two-way so you can zip up a bit from the bottom when you are sitting if you get in a bind. There are two hand pockets in front and a vertical chest pocket too.
The standard override jacket is ideal for use on or off the bike since it is uniformly insulated front and back. The Override Alloy jacket ditches the insulation in the back though which may work well for you on the bike since most of the cold is felt in front. That leave the mesh material in back to help the layer breathe. The same idea applies to the Override Allow pant… only the upper part of the pant is insulated, but the lower part isn’t, so it can easily exist under your pants and inside your boots without adding weight or thickness. Just check out the larger photos and you’ll get the idea. :: Paul, 04-22-21
PS: Kudos to the writer at Klim who worked up the marketing description of the Override Alloy jacket. Love the “Business in the front, party in the back” mullet analogy. Check it out.
Klim says: If mullets were serious business, this would be the mullet version of the Override Jacket. The Override Alloy Jacket uses the high performance chassis and insulation from the Override, but replaces the back and underarm panels with highly breathable, moisture wicking fleece. This is the ultimate mountain mid layer solution, taking the chill away from your front without adding unnecessary bulk to the back – all with massive breathability and moisture wicking effects to keep you comfortable. Business in the front, party in the back.
