Klim 2020 Marrakesh Pant

I measured a selection of these pants and found the waist size of the pants to measure out consistently at 2” larger than the stated size. Most men’s jeans will be sized this way…. it’s called vanity sizing. We recommend you measure your waist or the waistband of your favorite jeans and use the chart below to see what size pants you need. Most people will choose the same size they wear in regular men’s jeans.

Unlike most other Klim pants, these pants don’t have the Velcro adjusters on the side, but rather they are set up with a waist bank with belt loops just like jeans. So you want to choose a size as close to what you measure from your own favorite jeans using the chart, but even though the material to make these pants is stretchy, the waist band itself is not stretchy, so don’t choose a smaller size with the idea they’ll stretch to fit.

Inseam on the regular size pants is about 33” and the inseam on the tall sizes are about 35”.

Klim’s Marrakesh pant is new for 2020 and it is designed much like the jacket of the same name. The original Marrakesh jacket was introduced in 2018, but without a matching pant. This new pant pairs perfectly with the 2018 version jacket or the new 2020 Marrakesh jacket (take links below to see the jacket(s)).

The use of four way stretch Kevlar material for the chassis of this new pant is the big story here. We’ve seen similar material in riding gear over the years. The fabric is comfortable and breathable and will work well for a good deal of your riding season. The overall design is simplified as compared to a lot of Klim’s more technical gear. I’d encourage you to take the link to the Marrakesh jacket page and have a look to get a good feel for the overall design as the performance will be similar.

Regarding the pant design specifically, it’s a little different than Klim’s usual adventure or off-road styles. Firstly, the pants fit much like jeans, with a waist band a belt loops (rather than waist adjusters or suspenders, etc). They don’t connect to jackets with zippers etc, so they are a great pant to be worn with any sort of jacket… even another brand entirely. The color choices in the pant are very neutral.

The four way stretch Kevlar chassis works well for any riding position. They’ll be really comfortable to wear, but they are tough and will be your friend in a crash. CE level 1 D3O armor is included in the knees and hips. The pant leg ends are what I would call “boot cut” so they’ll work with nearly any kind of footwear or boots. They don’t have opening zippers on the legs, so these are not designed like “overpants”, to be worn over clothes, but rather you just wear these by themselves over underwear.

In addition to the regular front pockets, these pants have a couple zippered hip “cargo” pockets to store your stuff. The inside of each pant leg is lined with a more durable and slightly more “grippy” material so you can hold onto your bike better (adventure riders). The entire inside of the pants is lined with a nylon mesh liner which is comfortable and will let air come through to your legs.
