Sizing Information

The chest sizes listed in the chart below are from Klim’s chart and I’ve double checked the actual jackets against the chart and it is accurate. But be careful… while the size Large is exactly what you’d expect with a 44 max chest, the smaller sizes are a bit smaller than normal and the bigger sizes are bigger than normal. For example, a men’s size Medium usually is styled with a 42 max chest and Klim’s medium is a 40” max chest. Same goes for larger sizes… an XXL is typically a 48” max chest, but Klim’s is a 52” max chest.

The fit of this particular Klim jacket varies a bit from the others. The stretch fabric in this jacket is very forgiving for size. And being so flexible makes it comfortable even if you like a more snug/European fit. For the regular adventure/touring rider, I’d recommend going with the chart, and if you find yourself between sizes, I’d recommend the smaller. If you like a more trim fit in your motorcycling gear, then try one full size smaller than the chart indicates for your based upon your measurements.

Overall sleeve and torso lengths are generous and will work for most average height or taller riders. Those of shorter stature may find the sleeve and torso lengths to be longer than ideal.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 36” 35”
Medium 40” 39”
Large 44” 43”
XL 48” 46”
XXL 52” 50”
XXXL 56” 54”

Our Two Cents

The 2020 Marrakesh Jacket is a lot like the previous Marrakesh jacket we reviewed back in early 2018, but with some slight styling updates. And this year, Klim has added a matching pant so you can now make a full outfit with the Marrakesh (take the link below).

I’m a fan of the Marakesh for sure! Why? I don’t see myself as “hard core” enough of a rider for many of Klim’s more heavy duty and complicated gear. I’m more of a “fair weather”, low-thrill rider, and I value style and comfort too. Firstly, I’ll say you probably won’t find a jacket and pant that is more comfortable. The stretch Kevlar material just molds to your body and feels great. It flexes easily so you can reach your helmet, your controls, etc all very easily.

As I mentioned in the sizing advice, those who prefer a bit more “fitted” jacket and pants can find it here by sizing down. For example, I’m generally a size Large/44 in most gear, but I can wear the size Medium in this one. It’s snug… more akin to the fit of a REVIT or Dainese jacket, but fits great. Those that prefer the more loose fit Klim offers, can buy the size they normally wear.

The stretch Kevlar material used in this jacket is durable enough to resist abrasion if you fall and it feels rather heavy duty actually… kind of like the heft of a Carhartt work jacket. The material flows some air…not like a true mesh jacket but its not windproof like an ordinary textile jacket either. For those who are “fair weather riders”, this one will be perfect. It will be ideal for moderate temps… anything from cool to very warm I’d say. The two pockets on the chest have mesh liners so those can double as zip vents to let in a bit more air when it warms up. Klim says the material is “water resistant”, which also means “not waterproof” and that will be fine with my “fair weather” proclivities.

The armor in the jacket is all CE level 1, D3O energy absorbing type. It even has the back pad included so there is nothing else you’ll need to buy. In a casual style like this, the D3O works well because it is very pliable and comfortable… it fits well with the casual nature of this jacket.

The overall style of this jacket is noticeably less complicated than the other Klim jackets. There are less straps, zippers, pockets, hidden pockets etc here, and personally I like that. One feature listed in Klim’s literature is a zip connection between the jacket and pants, but that is not present on our inventory (must have been a typo). You can use the belt loops on the pants or use suspenders. The jacket body is plenty long and will overlap with the pants by a good bit to keep you covered. :: Paul 03-23-20

Klim says: The Marrakesh is engineered to excel in a wide temperature range while providing the highest degree of comfort and durability. With a perfect combination of ventilation and abrasion resistant materials, the Marrakesh is KLIM’s most comfortable motorcycle jacket.
