Our Two Cents
The Klim eFire Override Vest is in many ways the vest version of Klim’s eFire Aggressor base layer shirt, here is what we had to say about it:
The Aggressor eFire Shirt from Klim is a base layer shirt that adds powered heat elements to help keep you extra warm in cold weather and is even rated for snow use. Overall construction of the shirt is a poly-spandex blend that is a gridded fabric that is designed to trap the heat, it features flat, low-profile seams for extra comfort and minimal bulk, is anti-microbial, moisture wicking, highly breathable, fast drying and has lighter and thinner gussets in the underarms to reduce bulk and further increase breathability and mobility. KEEP IN MIND this is a base layer, not a protective piece of riding gear, it is meant to be layered under protective riding gear. An additional item to note is the convertible cuff construction that allows you to wear the sleeves as you would with regular cuffs or with thumb holes.
The Aggressor shirt comes with an integrated heat system, one that has a heat panel on the mid-upper back and two on the upper chest with one being on each side. The entire system is controlled by a lighted touch button control that sits on the upper right chest (it was carefully placed to avoid backpack straps but still provide easy access), and is internally wired with routing focused on comfort. Some notable features include three different heat modes (High/Medium/Low and naturally OFF), up to 8 hours of battery life on low heat (represented by a green light), up to 3.5 hours on medium heat (which is represented by a blue light), up to 2.5 hours of battery life on high heat (which is represented by a red light), USB-C battery charging with an included cable as well as LED battery life indicator. The Aggressor eFire Shirt from Klim is washer and dryer safe with the battery removed, features a dedicated battery pocket and allows for replacement batteries. A pretty sharp system overall.
Klim is an expert in many different types of gear, one of them being snowmobile gear, meaning that they know how to keep their customers warm, this tech is basically snow tech trickling down to the motorcycle rider and will keep you warm in the coldest riding conditions. Overall the price is steep at $199.99 for a base layer initially, but when you look at most other warmth base layers coming in around the $50-$100 mark for just a plain shirt, your realize that the price makes sense considering that you are getting your own, personal heating system. And honestly yes you can tell that something is going on with this shirt, you can make out some of the wires and the heating pads, but they really are only barely noticeable, I was actually quite impressed with how slim and minimal it all really feels compared to a regular warm base layer shirt. Overall I am impressed and would definitely say it is worth checking out if you plan to ride in cold to really cold weather. :: Damir 7/19/24
