Our Two Cents

The Draft Air glove from Tourmaster is a fairly minimal, short cuffed, warm weather based, touring glove. Overall construction on the top of the hand is a 3D mesh for maximum ventilation, and the inside of the hand is primarily goatskin leather with AX® overlays. The AX® overlays serve as additional protection and durability in the palm, pinky, thumb and wrist while also providing touch screen compatibility in the index finger and thumb (in our testing performing well with both Android and iPhone devices).

For added comfort and convenience, there are air vents on top of the three main fingers just under the knuckle, perforations on both the tops of the fingers as well as on the entire inside of the hand, as well as stretch accordion panels on all four fingers. The main closure also features a fully adjustable hook and loop closure system as well as a small bit of elastic stretch to make getting in and out of the gloves easier.

Overall protection is provided by the AX® overlays and goatskin leather, as well as the molded knuckle protectors and finger armor. Overall these gloves are not CE rated, my assumption is that it is not that they wouldn’t pass, but rather with Tourmaster being primarily sold in the USA, they didn’t bother with having the gloves certified. As a whole for $29.99 (at the time of this review) protection is there for the money, but without any hard sliders or padding in the palm and wrist areas I can’t consider the Draft Air gloves super focused on safety and protection for on road use (may be enough for off road use) but rather more focused on airflow.

Sizing is a bit interesting for me as I typically wear a size large in European brands, but a size larger here fits me well in the three main fingers, is super tight in the thumb and super long in the pinky. Also the knuckle area felt tight for me creating pain from the molded knuckle protector. Lastly the strap for the wrist closure was a bit too rubbery and stiff for my liking, it did not feel super comfortable on my wrists.
