Sizing Information
For your reference, these gloves fit consistently with the major American designed brands we carry such as Tour Master, Joe Rocket, FirstGear, etc, which are “normal” in fit and size. And they are a bit more roomy than some European brands such as Alpinestars and REV’IT! that typically run about a half size smaller than the American “normal” fit. Hopefully you have some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.
Our Two Cents
The Icon Automag3 gloves are a short cuff, sport style glove that is designed to be minimal in bulk, while offering a good level of protection and a high level of dexterity and feel. Overall construction is a combination of Ax Laredo with reinforcements in the palm, cordura, and a TPR and D30 padded knuckle. Overall protection is minimal to keep weight and bulk down but in comparison to other minimal, short cuff, sport gloves, the AutoMag3 actually do offer good protection for the style and are CE rated (there are others that I have reviewed that simply just had abrasion resistance with no impact protection to speak of). Granted there are gloves out there that will offer more protection even in the same price point, but that will come at the expense of bulk, comfort and the minimal sport design that the AutoMag3 have. I could see these gloves being especially popular with stunt style riders as well.
Looking at sizing, I normally wear a size Large and when I tried on a size Large they fit as I would expect, so no issues there, I would recommend getting the size that you typically wear. The gloves feature a hook and loop closure, and even though they have some markings as well as a good sized Icon logo on top of the hand, they feature a rather subdued overall look compared to many of Icon’s other designs.
Overall if you are looking for a minimal glove that is light weight, not bulky and really just out of your way with a good amount of protection for the style, these are worth checking out. :: Damir 12/6/24
