Icon Airform Glove

For your reference, these gloves fit consistently with the major American designed brands we carry such as Tour Master, Joe Rocket, FirstGear, etc, which are “normal” in fit and size. And they are a bit more roomy than some European brands such as Alpinestars and REV’IT! that typically run about a half size smaller than the American “normal” fit. Hopefully you have some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.

The Icon Airform glove is a short cuff design for everyday riders. The material is synthetic leather with perforations to flow air for summer comfort.

Icon is going all-in on synthetic leather the last couple of seasons. I notice more and more use of this Ax material. I can see how the material is ideal for motorcycle gloves. It feels much like leather, but with a softer backside, and according to Icon provides at least as good of abrasion resistance as leather. Looking at this brand new glove, I can tell it is synthetic though, so if you may be put off by something that looks a little “fake”, then you probably ought to seek out a genuine leather glove. But as the glove breaks in and gets some creases, I bet it will be harder and harder to tell it from a leather material.

The armor included here is minimal. You do get a decent D3O armor unit over the knuckles and there is a nice Velcro tab at the wrist to secure the glove on your hand (an important safety feature), but otherwise, there aren’t any significant safety features other than the Ax material (but double layered in the heel area of the hand). :: Paul, 04-27-21
