TPU hard-shell inserts serve to shield your knuckles, while Temperfoam® along the fingers offers impact protection, without restricting movement. Sizing Information
We find REVIT gloves run a bit on the snug side as compared to most US based brands. The fit is very similar to Alpinestars which also fit more snugly than other brands of gloves. The tendency to run small is not so noticeable that we’d advise you to buy one size larger, but if you are sometimes in between sizes, your best shot would be to choose larger. Hopefully you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.
Our Two Cents
The Metis 2 gloves from REV’IT! are a leather sport glove for street riders looking for a more affordable alternative to a full race-spec glove, and a glove that is made to be worn every day. Like a full race-spec glove, the Metis 2 Gloves are a full coverage gauntlet style glove that eliminates skin exposure at the cuffs. Where the Metis 2 differ from a full race-spec glove is in cost, obviously being anywhere from a third to half the cost, and in comfort. Yes the Metis 2 offer protection, but without having to be as intense and focused as a race-spec glove, the Metis 2 is able to put more of its efforts towards a combination of protection and comfort.
Overall construction is primarily goatskin leather that has been drug-dyed, tanned and coated, this allows for a water repellent, abrasion resistant glove that still breathes, grips and has great feel. Additionally while borrowing features from the race-spec gloves like pre-curved fingers and grip patches at the palm and thumb, you also get comfort features like elastic at the wrist, hook and loop closure at the wrist strap for comfort and adjustability (there are two separate wrist enclosures to ensure a proper fit), as well as outside PWR Yarn stitching to provide ultimate sensitivity while eliminating any potential for pressure points. The Metis 2 gloves also feature stretch at the fingers, a Tricot liner for comfort as well as touchscreen compatible index fingers and thumbs as well as a touch screen compatible palm. In my testing they worked well with both iPhone and Android devices. To further aid in comfort the Metis 2 gloves also feature perforation in the leather at the fingers, both inside and out, as well as on the top of the wrist.
Lets talk about protection, as mentioned earlier you get abrasion resistance from the goatskin leather, this is also combined with synthetic PU leather, polyurethane coated fabrics, PWR Shell 500D Stretch, microfiber e-touch as well as Temperfoam®. Temperfoam® can be found at the cuff, finger knuckles, palm sliders, and underneath the knuckle protectors. This allows for maximum impact protection while still staying comfortable. And speaking of knuckle protection, there are TPU hard shell knuckle protectors, and there is also a TPU hard shell slider at the palms. The Metis 2 gloves are CE level 1 KP rated.
Overall the Metis 2 gloves are really interesting as they really are more of a street based glove, but they feature many great features from gloves that you might see at the track. For me personally race-specked gloves sometimes feel like overkill for the streets but short, sport based gloves leave me feeling like im not protected enough, this to me seems like a really nice balance. Also I appreciate the good amount of color options to fit your style.
