Sizing Information

We tried on a selection of Forma boots here in the office and found the length to be about right. The width of the boots is a touch more wide than most other brands we carry. Alpinestars and TCX tend to be the most wide, but these might even be a touch wider. I’d say they are a D to E and might even work for somebody with a slightly wider foot (but don’t get carried away and think they are wide enough for a person needing a EEE or wider). These are also roomy over the instep. so those with a thick/wide foot might really like this style.

Forma offers advice on choosing a size from your foot measurement. Here’s how:

1) Measure the overall length of your foot. Forma recommends placing your heel against a wall and measuring from the wall to the end of your longest toe.

2) Add 3/4” to the length of your foot

3) Using Forma’s sizing chart below, choose the smallest size boot with an insole measurement that is at least the length of your foot plus 3/4”.

Use Forma’s size selection method as a “second opinion”. Maybe you’ll find it reassuring if it matches your size choice based on street shoe size or, maybe it could be a tie breaker if you are undecided between two sizes. FWIW, Forma’s advice didn’t work for me since I have relatively short toes. I wear a 45 (known from trying on) and this method put me in a 42.

Our Two Cents

The Forma Bolt boot is a shorter “engineer” style boot for street riders. This boot is all-leather with a sturdy sole. This boot offers a waterproof mid-liner to keep your feet dry in wet weather.

We’ve carried the Eagle boot by Forma for a couple years now, and this boot is basically the shorter-top version of the Eagle but with a little more “dressy” finish. It’s a good looking boot with jeans and will fill the bill for cruiser and retro bike riding styles. It’s an engineer style, but with the advantage of a side zipper entry. Classic engineer boots are slip on styles with no side zipper, but slip on engineer boots can easily fly off your feet in case of a fall (not good). This boot is cut with a more narrow top and instep so they won’t easily slip off with the zipper closed. So the side zipper is there to make it easy to get them on and off. The boots have a leather strap and buckle over the instep. I tried adjusting the buckle and it actually does help in tuning the fit (many are just decorative).

You’ll find a sturdy sole on this boot with an internal shank to stiffen them enough to easily support weight on motorcycle pegs. The inside is nicely finished with nylon and the insole is removable. You’ll have some breaking in to do, but being real leather, I think you’ll find they become comfortable quickly. The boots come with a shifter protector you can slip onto the toe area to keep your shifter from scuffing up the finish (if you care about that). Some may want to keep these clean and shined and wear them off the bike or even at work. The boots are made with a waterproof liner and there is a gator across the side zipper to keep water out.

I really like this shorter style because of how well they’ll work both on and off the bike. :: Paul, 03-09-21
