The Klim Avalon has gotten a styling upgrade for 2021. As with prevous Avalon models, this new one is perfect for hot summer riding. The design allows tons of airflow through the shell and the materials are extremely strong to give excellent impact and abrasion protection in case of a fall.
The mesh material used in this jacket is Klim’s “Karbonite” material which is extremely tough feeling. But even though it is an extremely durable and abrasion resistant material, the weave is such that air can flow through the fabric to your body freely. Beefier textile is used over the shoulders and elbows in those two crash prone areas for better abrasion resistance.
This newly styled Avalon jacket seems to have a bit more of a feminine shape than previous models. It seems to have more of a taper at the waist and with the expansion zippers on the sides of the hip, there is plenty of room so the jacket doesn’t ride up.
As standard, this jacket is fitted with a full set of D3O armor… elbows, shoulders, and back. D3O is VERY comfortable to wear and is CE-1 rated for impact protection. There is nothing else to buy.
I think the overall looks of this new style Avalon is an improvement in style while keeping the same solid construction and great armor package:: Paul, 01-30-21
Klim says: The redesigned women’s Avalon Jacket is engineered to deliver exceptional airflow for comfort in the warmest riding environments while providing durable protection. The newly upgraded Karbonite™ Mesh chassis is now more comfortable and flexible while maintaining the phenomenal strength it became known for. Added stretch panels and comfort features make the Avalon Jacket road-ready for full summers of riding.
